Aside from cooking, I have a passion for sharing my knowledge in food and meal preparation. This is why I started holding cooking classes for moms, kids, house helps, and basically anyone who wants to learn how to cook. I believe that knowing how to make your own food can significantly help you improve your life – whether you are planning to start your own family or put up your own food business, cooking can help you succeed.
To further fulfill my desire to share my cooking skills and knowledge to a lot more people, I decided to create my own cookbook. Thanks to Xandra Ramos who first came up with the idea and inspired me to pursue the project.
It was my first time to make a cookbook and didn’t know how to go about it at first. But with proper research and a lot of help from my family and friends, creating the book piece by piece became exciting. I actually had fun making it and until now, I can’t believe that I was able to publish my very own cookbook.
I called it Tastes of Home because the book is composed of simple, everyday meals that are easy to prepare at home and will make the whole family enjoy mealtime. In fact, those recipes are my family’s favorite meals. They have been tried and tested because the kids request for them all the time.
Roy, my husband, was really supportive and even volunteered to take the pictures of the recipes. We were so happy with the final output and were very excited for the public launch. “This is it,” I enthusiastically exclaimed.
After the book launch, I was really surprised and thankful for the demand that my cookbook got. It is always a part of National Bookstore’s bestselling books that, sometimes, I myself could not get a copy of it. I have also received quite a lot of good praises and commendations about the book because according to many people, I was able to help them come up with excellent home dishes and family meals that are perfect for everyone, especially the kids. I was also able to teach helpers become better cooks for the families that they serve.
Tastes of Home cookbook is available in National bookstores nationwide. It is written in bi-lingual format (English and Filipino) so that helpers can easily follow cooking instructions. It also comes with lots of pictures and tips to inspire readers that they can also learn how to cook just like a professional chef.
